"KC" Cleland -Paul May -Dilian Arnaudov -Ed Simmonds -Andy KingNephwrack began in 2001, touring and recording demos, the first of which was released in early 2002. The line-up from this period included a youthful Ed Simmonds & Keir Cleland, both on guitar. Initially, the style of music was rather different to that produced by the current band; predominantly industrial metal, in the vision of the then-vocalist. Nephwrack continued to tour and record demos, with several line-up changes seeing David Stanton of Season’s End, Paul White of Nya and Joe Butterworth of Talanas all pass through the ranks. In 2006, shortly after the band opened the 2nd stage at Bloodstock Open Air, a line-up overhaul precipitated a shift in style to a more mature, harder metal sound. Influences ranging from thrash to folk to all-out prog appeared in the Nephwrack’s new material, and a full-length album, The Once and Future King, was promptly recorded in the winter of 06/07. The albums release and supporting tour in the spring & summer of 2007 was met with positive reviews from the mainstream rock press.
Following that summers festival and tour dates, including a higher billing at Bloodstock Open Air 07, the band began writing new material. During this period further line-up changes took place due to the more bombastic and truly metallic direction of the new material, seeing the arrival of virtuoso guitarist Paul May and awesome vocalist Dilian Arnaudov in March and April 2008 respectively. In August 2008 the online EP Fall of Empires was released, featuring re-recordings of Nephwrack live favourites with Dilian’s majestic vocals. (Fall of Empires is now also available on CD.)
The band is currently touring and writing/rehearsing material for a new release, due this autumn.
