I've been using the Hartke HA2500 now for about 3 years and i have to say I'm VERY impressed.
Lets start with the build quality. This amp is pretty solid and has taken quite a few knocks with no major damage. I would recommend getting a flight case for it if you're planning on gigging with it. Control knobs and EQ are sturdy and show no signs of becoming loose or breaking off.
On to performance. This amp churns out 250 watts of power which is more than enough to drive most mid-sized rigs with no problem at all. In a small practice room I'm running this amp through the Hartke 4x10 transporter cab with the volume roughly half way. Any louder than that and it starts to drown out the 2 100 watt guitar amps that i'm competing with, so happy days indeed! The front of the amp has 2 inputs (passive and active), 2 preamp controls (A and B), a compression control, 2 contour controls (low pass and high pass), a ten band EQ (which you can punch in and out) and finally the master volum control. As you can see, this amp is very well equipt for the price tag.
The 10 band eq give you excellent control of your bass tone while the contour control gives you yet more tonal control.
On the back we have the Effect send and return jack which allow you to use outboard effect and an effect balance knob allows for adjustment of the effect as they are sent to the speaker outputs. You also get some circuit protection which will save you speakers being blown to bits should something nasty happen.
In conclusion, for the money it's pretty hard to beat this head! The Hartke HA2500 is great. Full Stop.
